A. You will visit your obstetrician regularly throughout your pregnancy. Typically, women will go in once a month for the first 28 weeks. For weeks 28 to 36 you’ll increase your trips and go every two weeks. For the final few weeks, you’ll start going every week until you deliver. However, this schedule may change if you are a high risk pregnancy. In that case, your obstetrician will want to see you more frequently.

Q. What happens during my visits?

A. Your obstetrician visits will begin much like a typical doctor visit. They will check your vitals to make sure you blood pressure is normal and monitor your weight gain. Then, they’ll check on the health of the baby. Your obstetrician will perform various tests throughout your pregnancy as needed as well. When the end gets closer, they will also discuss your birth plan with you. You should also not hesitate to ask your obstetrician any questions you have along the way.
