Surgical services Q&A

Gynecologic surgical services can be improve lifestyle and also provide life saving care. Our physicians proudly preform the following procedures:

NovaSure Ablation

A Novasure Ablation is the an option for those with heavy vaginal bleeding. This procedure allow our physicians to burn the lining of the uterus to ensure heavy bleeding will decrease or stop all together. This is not an option for those who are planning future pregnancy.

Hysteroscopy D&C

This is a procedure where a thin, lighted tube called a hysteroscope is inserted into the uterus through the cervix. The hysteroscope allows our skilled doctors to view the inside of the uterus on a monitor. Hysteroscopy can be done for diagnostic purposes to investigate abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, or infertility. It can also be used therapeutically to remove uterine polyps, fibroids, adhesions, or to perform sterilization procedures like tubal occlusion.

A hysterectomy is the most permanent treatment option. Depending on the type of hysterectomy, other reproductive organs such as the cervix, ovaries, and fallopian tubes may also be removed. We offer multiple types of hysterectomy options:

  • Laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy
  • Total laparoscopic hysterectomy
  • Radical hysterectomy
  • Abdominal hysterectomy

If you have symptomatic fibroids, a myomectomy may be a surgical option. Our doctors can removal the problematic fibroids without removing the uterus and still preserve fertility.

Acessa is an exciting new procedure our Georgia OB/GYN physicians are trained for. This minimally invasive surgery uses heat to destroy fibroid tissue.

Our skilled physicians have worked with many teenagers throughout the years to correct congenital conditions of the hymen.  This procedure is typically done for medical reasons, such as to alleviate pain or discomfort caused by an imperforate hymen (a hymen that completely covers the vaginal opening) or to enable menstrual flow in cases of a microperforate hymen (a hymen with a very small opening).

Ovarian Cystectomy

While many ovarian cysts are harmless and resolve on their own, some may cause symptoms such as pelvic pain, bloating, or difficulty with bowel or bladder function. In cases where cysts are large, persistent, or causing significant symptoms, a cystectomy may be recommended. Our trained doctors will help discuss best treatment options.

Salpingectomy is the removal of fallopian tubes. This can be due to an ectopic pregnancy, reducing risk of ovarian cancer, treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), or permanent birth control.

An oopherectomy is the surgical removal of ovaries. This procedure may be performed for various reasons, including the treatment of ovarian cancer, prevention of ovarian cancer in high-risk individuals, and management of certain gynecological conditions such as endometriosis or ovarian cysts.

Our trained physicians can use a laparoscopy as a way to diagnosis reasons for pelvic pain and other gynecologic issues. Laparoscopy is commonly used for a wide range of surgical procedures, including diagnostic purposes to investigate abdominal pain or infertility, treating endometriosis, and performing tubal ligation.

This procedure stands for Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure, which removes abnormal cells from the cervix after a pap smear or colposcopy.
